In order to have a positive experience for all members, behavioral rules have been created. These are meant to act as a guide for everyone to follow that ensures we can all be civil towards one another. When referencing something "Out-of-Character," this means it is anything that is not voiced through an individual's character. Any threads, tweets, chat messages, and so on that have nothing to do with your "In-Character" context are counted in this category. If these rules are heavily disobeyed, be ready to face the consequences of your actions promptly. If any of these rules are broken once, you will receive a warning. This will be indicated through a warning level on your profile based on the severity of the offense. Beyond these warnings will come banning.
These are just rules of treatment in general. The punishments for these vary, but the best is usually the warning system. It will increase based on number and severity of offenses, and once your warning level reaches 100% you will be banned.
No Flaming. This means that you cannot insult someone else or be a prick just because you feel like it, or are having a bad day. We all have bad days, and this does not give us a good reason to take out our anger on others. Just sit and talk about it. If someone says something you do not like, just ask them to stop. Seriously. You can't be a dick just because. Hell, you can't be a dick in general. Don't give some stupid self righteous attitude or think you're always in the right. And don't make up stupid excuses for flaming, either. If you get drunk, and can't control what you say, don't even get on the forum until you're sober. If you're in a bad mood, don't bring that here. Leave it behind. You do NOT have the right to use aggravations from elsewhere as an excuse to be disrespectful here. Take responsibility for your actions and faults, and be a respected, respectable, and respecting citizen when on this forum.
Don't give drama. Moaning about how much your life sucks, or just trying to start arguments or draw attention to yourself in some way similar to this is annoying, and completely unnecessary. No throwing yourself pity parties. If you're really that depressed, then be ready to EXPLAIN IT if you're going to mention it in the first place. If you're not going to talk about it, don't bring it up. Ever. People are also allowed to give their input if you give your life story or something along those lines. If someone gives their input, don't you dare get angry. The fact that you shared it in the first place means that you gave us permission for input. If you don't like it, don't share. Forget your problems and act normal. If you can't even do that much, then don't come on if you feel like shit and aren't willing to follow what I said in the last two paragraphs. If you're in a bad mood, you shouldn't take it out on others. Don't even be here if you're going to act all aggressive and angry. Don't try to troll people. Don't try to frustrate or annoy them. Don't personally attack others or even try to antagonize them.
Do not spam. Don't post random floods of repeated or irrelevant comments either on the chat or on the forum. It is highly annoying, and it is liable to get you banned, as are other acts listed above. This also extends to obscenity. Don't post obscene things on the chat, such as pornographic images and videos, things that are way too sexual or are just plain disgusting, or strange links which are obscene in some way.
Punishment Syllabus
Minor Offenses - A minor offense includes a singular argument, being a bad sport, and bugging people about posting (in an annoying way.) It can also include begging for a fight, and purposely inciting conflict with another member.
First Offense - 33% Warning Level. This will be up for a month. It will go back down after that month, assuming there is good behavior.
Second Offense - 66% Warning Level. This will also be up for a brand new two months, and will only go back down if there was good behavior during those two months. This applies to either a second offense in general, or a second offense committed during a warning time after a first offense.
Third Offense - 100% Warning Level. This means you are in my power. I can do anything that I want to you, and you are not allowed to consider it unfair. You have your chances. Three strikes, you're out. I can do anything from annihilating your character on a whim in important threads to banning you temporarily from the forum or even from the chat. Maximum ban time on a minor offense is three weeks for forum, one month for chat. Minimum is two days for both of these.
Major Offenses - A major offense is inciting some form of massive riot or argument, intentionally trying to cause a large amount of chaos in the forum or chat, trying to take advantage of loop holes, disregarding drawbacks and god modding with your powers, disobeying the rules of roleplay, and continuous bad behavior over a long time. This is a lot more harsh.
First Offense - 80% Warning Level. This is up for a whole four months. If you're behaved during those four months, this will go back down. Instead of the warning level, it is possible that you will receive In Character punishment.
Second Offense - If this is a second offense on its own, you will receive In Character punishment of a severe variety at worst. If this is a second offense after the first offense warning level, you will be temporarily banned for a maximum time of two months, and a minimum time of three weeks. (This is from the forum.) You will be chat-banned for at least one month, at most three months.
Third Offense - No matter what kind of third offense, whether it be third in general, or third after the first two, three is three. Three strikes, you're out. This can result in permanent ban from the chat, or, in some severe cases, permanent ban from the forum.
- Be respectful. Please respect others and do not use offensive or racial slurs. It is understood and some people generally have a better tolerance for these kinds of things, but assume that not everyone does and understand that it can hurt feelings. Allow yourself time to get to know new people and figure out what kind of humor and teasing they like before you throw them into questionable jokes. That being said, if you are on the opposite side, do not take offense to anything someone says if they are being disrespectful. Just let it go. If something severely bothers you, simply take screenshots or save the logs of whatever it was and report it to a member of the site's staff. Do not engage these types of people. It can be hard, but no one ever had a fight alone. Please remain calm and be mature about it. You may ask them to stop so long as you are polite. If anything escalates, you may bring it to the staff members' attention. To avoid this,
however, just do not be offensive.
Please remember that this is the internet. Nothing should be taken too seriously. Nobody can physically harm you. Do not allow harsh or negative words to affect how you feel about the forum or the fun you have here. It is possible to make friends, to find people you get along with, and to avoid those you don't. Be polite, be kind, be civil, but nothing is forcing you to be their friend. If anything comes of it and you feel personally threatened, staff will deal with it on your behalf. - Remember to have fun! This is a roleplay forum. It is meant to be an escape from reality, but it becomes significantly less fun if you become too anal about details. If you find yourself disagreeing with someone you are threading with, please be calm about it. Talk to them first. If there is a ruling you may need help on, feel free to approach a staff member. That's what they're there for. Do not get mad and explode on the other person. Do not badger people about posting times. Real life is a thing and many of us go to school, have jobs, or are otherwise busy. Be patient and understanding.
- Treat others the way they wish to be treated. This is called the "Platinum Rule." Allow others to have a voice. Opinions exist. Just because someone disagrees with you does not make them wrong or you right. Please be mindful of this. Respect your seniors, as well. Seniors are those who have been a member for longer than you have. They are here to help you get to know the site better and adjust as quickly and easily as possible. Additionally, please know the difference between joking around and taking something too far. If someone is visibly upset, you have taken it too far. Apologies are always appreciated, but please be willing to communicate and talk things out. You are promised to have a better time on this forum if you do.
- Don't be overly stubborn or immature. It is guaranteed someone else on this forum who is older and more experienced has gone through what you have in one way, shape, or form. Do not underestimate your elders. Do not throw tantrums or act like you are the center of attention. You're not.
